About

About Where to Shoot

An independent directory of Australian shooting ranges. We show where you can shoot, what each range offers and how newcomers get started, and where every fact came from.

About us

Where to Shoot helps you find a shooting range in Australia: where it is, which disciplines it offers, what its facilities are, when it's open and how a newcomer gets started. The club that runs each range handles membership, bookings and permission to shoot.

We're independent. We don't sell equipment, and we can't take bookings or pass on messages to clubs.

Our list isn't complete yet, and details change. A range missing from the directory may still exist, so check with the club before you travel.

A free account lets you follow ranges and save guides. Following is free and private. It isn't club membership, a booking or permission to shoot; contact the club for those. How we handle your account.

How we source facts

  • Research from public sources

We build each range page from public sources, such as club and range websites, event calendars and association listings. We record what each source says and when we read it.

  • Sources and checked dates

Every group of facts shows its source and the date we last checked it. Checks older than six months are marked. A checked date means we read the source then; it isn't confirmation from the club.

  • Corrections

Anyone can suggest a correction. Corrections go into private review and don't change a listing straight away: we check each one against a source first.

  • Independence

We aren't affiliated with any club, association or government agency, and pages aren't written or endorsed by the clubs they describe. Unknown access is never shown as public access.

Example: how it looks on a range page

Come-and-try day: first Saturday of the month, 09:00 to 12:00

Pistol range: 25 m and 50 m

Requirements differ by state. We don't describe state licensing rules. Check with the club and your state firearms registry.

For clubs: keep your range listing up to date

We build each range page from public sources, such as your club's website, and show when we last checked them. If something on your page is wrong or out of date, tell us.

Use Suggest a correction on the range page, or the form below. It has three fields:

  • What needs correcting? Describe the change in plain words, for example new session times, a come-and-try date, a changed contact or a discipline you no longer run.
  • Where you saw it (optional). A link to the page that shows the change, such as your club's events page or newsletter. A source helps us check the change faster.
  • Your email (optional, never published). Add one if you're happy for us to contact you about the change.

The form takes text and a link only, so it can't accept photo files. If you'd like us to consider a photo, link to where it's published, for example on your club's website.

Corrections go into private review and don't change the listing straight away.

Following a range on Where to Shoot is free and private. It isn't club membership, a booking or permission to shoot, so your club's own membership and booking processes stay with you.

Corrections

Suggest a correction

Corrections go into private review. We check each one against a source before changing the page.

Say what the page gets wrong and what it should say.

Only to ask about this correction. Never published.

Contact

For changes to a range or club listing, use the correction form. It goes straight into review, so it's the quickest way to update a page.

For anything else, email contact@wheretoshoot.com.au.

We can't book sessions, pass on messages to clubs or advise on licensing. For those, contact the club that runs the range, or your state firearms registry. To find a club, search for a range.
